She's got the look

Love the different pairing. Its interesting how people see different colors in different context. Usually you hesitate before pairing such two strong colors together, but the outfit pulls it off without being confusing. Joined Lookbook recently as the badge on the blog shows but I am regretting it considering they only want your pictures and I am very shy and wary of posting my photos on the internet. Facebook is not the same! Anyhow, but its a good site to go and get outfit ideas. Always makes me want to shop more though.

P.S- Removed the badge because, well, its pointless!

What's in a name? That which we call a rose....

Oh look my muse!

Browsing through magazines, websites, something that hits you instantly and you wonder that look could be interesting. I am not one for aping exact looks but I do tend to pick up color schemes and textures that could go well from magazines and campaigns that attract my eye. I blame Tod's for my current leather mania (not in that kinky way) and the easy, flowing fitting of the shirts and trousers. I am slowly understanding the basics of denim and what goes into buying jeans, a staple which I dismissed earlier and only bought when my old ones started to fray and could not be washed anymore. I have a stack of good jeans from J Brand, True Religion and am looking to add to my collection by buying a pair from 7 for All Mankind and Rag and Bone.  Look at the delish tuxedo jeans from Rag and Bone! The first photo in the post is from The Sartorialist and I like the comfortable yet chic way of layering, not that we could work layering in Mumbai with the humidity but I like the contrast of the grey against the pink and I am definitely going to try that.

Up or Down

Love the summer feel on this Zara dress. Perfect for the lazy day when dressing up means dressing down. I have been thinking about 'marrying' different brands and it makes complete sense to me to mix two brands instead of opting for head to toe look (in spite of me being a Zara loyalist).

What Blogs Say

Contrary to what everyone thinks or says, Fashion is much more about being shallow or appearances. It is in your eyes, your opinions, books, films, art and everything around you. Layering a tweed skirt over a sequinned sweater is not just intelligent styling but having the vision to see beyond a black and white combination. Fashion mirrors global trends. Recession, world wars and weather all have an impact on how we dress. Here are some delightful blogs that depict fashion and much more. My recent find and what a fresh take on dressing, Tuula Vintage. I love the way the blog is so casual and personal. Another favorite is this wonderful blog called The Coveteur. When it comes to a successful blog, it has to be engaging and true to its theme. You can have an interesting layout but if the content is old, no one will visit your blog. You need to be relevant and update the blog as often as you can. After reading these blogs, I often feel my sartorial choices are very limited. I don't know any vintage markets or shops and I refrain from street shopping because it disappoints me often. I think, I don't see with the right eyes. It's all about understanding what matches and what fits where. I know I have had a post earlier about this, but am still lusting for a red lace dress.
