What Blogs Say

Contrary to what everyone thinks or says, Fashion is much more about being shallow or appearances. It is in your eyes, your opinions, books, films, art and everything around you. Layering a tweed skirt over a sequinned sweater is not just intelligent styling but having the vision to see beyond a black and white combination. Fashion mirrors global trends. Recession, world wars and weather all have an impact on how we dress. Here are some delightful blogs that depict fashion and much more. My recent find and what a fresh take on dressing, Tuula Vintage. I love the way the blog is so casual and personal. Another favorite is this wonderful blog called The Coveteur. When it comes to a successful blog, it has to be engaging and true to its theme. You can have an interesting layout but if the content is old, no one will visit your blog. You need to be relevant and update the blog as often as you can. After reading these blogs, I often feel my sartorial choices are very limited. I don't know any vintage markets or shops and I refrain from street shopping because it disappoints me often. I think, I don't see with the right eyes. It's all about understanding what matches and what fits where. I know I have had a post earlier about this, but am still lusting for a red lace dress. 

Stye Swap (hopefully)

I have an idea. The problem with having an idea is you need guinea pigs and not every friend is a selfless volunteer. I am mulling over the idea of doing a style swap like series, where You ( Guinea pig) changes your sense of style. For example, if you live and sleep in jeans then for a whole week you wear anything but jeans. And we will post your photos on the blog. Or we can have you swap certain items with a friend, for example if you have been coveting a top or a clutch that belongs to another friend, you can have it while the friend can have something of yours. And we will style you and post photos. It is a worthwhile endeavor my fellow fashionistas! Do write in if you wish to take part or else I might resort to emotional blackmail. Do it now! 

A dress a day!

In spite of having a pretty decent wardrobe with clothes from everywhere, I am very lazy. I don't spend much energy mixing or matching and stick to similar combinations. You don't need to have a lot of clothes to be stylish. You need to be creative and dress according to what colors suit you, where you will be going and your size. So starting from today, I have decided I am going to give my clothes some thought, try to wear the neglected pieces and mix and match instead of just going the 'safe' route. I shall be posting pictures as often as I can because Blogger doesn't let you post from your phone which is a tad disappointing.

 The outfit I have put together today is very basic, because I am mainly going to be home and probably run a few errands. But I haven't worn the shirt or the t-shirt inside so it's a start. The t-shirt inside is actually a dress which I feel is thin so I have used it as a t-shirt. I brought it from New Look in Bournemouth. The shirt is a very comfortable work shirt from Zara. I have been in search of a perfect fitting shirt and even though this is a little snug, I can wear it open with a t-shirt inside. The pants are my favorite pair of pants for home, from Zara, dark brown and very comfortable. I can add some bangles or a chain, tie my hair and I am ready for a casual outing.
