Maverick of Make-Up

I am not much of a make up fanatic. I had been running away from mascara all my life till an instinct hit and I got hooked. Now I just need three things to survive- kajal, mascara and my sunscreen. Make up can not help me, probably plastic surgery can. Anyway so I decided that it was time to focus on some make up trends and although I know very little in that department since I do not care much, here is a really good guide of 5 really good mascaras. They are all exclusive designer brands but you can keep trying stuff from different brands to get an idea because even though a certain brand may have an awesome mascara, it may not necessarily suit you or you may not find it comfortable or even helpful, so take it as a basic guide to get started. As an Indian, I am lucky in a way that we are blessed with good lashes so mascara just highlights what we already have BUT even that is really a boon.

It really depends on how much you consider spending on a certain product, like for me if I have X amount of money for makeup I only need to worry about kajal and mascara since my sunscreen is a medical sunscreen so I can buy expensive brands of mascara and kajal. But for someone with the same amount of money and more needs like foundation, tinted moisturizer, blush, eyeshadow, concealer, lipgloss, lipstick, lip liner, eye liner, eyebrow curler, bronzer- everything has to fit in. So you prioritize. What can you compromise on? I think stuff like eyebrow curler, lip gloss can be usually bought from department stores like Boots or Primark. Vaseline does a better job and keeps your lips from getting dark as well, so see if you can replace that. Eyeshadow can be bought in sets of two/three or more, so you save money and you get more options. What you can not budge on is foundation, concealer, blush and bronzer. To save money, mix sunscreen and concealer to get a home made tinted moisturizer. You will also need an excellent make up remover. If you again want to make do, so get a really good moisturizer and wipe your face gently clean with it. But do wash it again after cleaning so that you remove all traces of make up. Use a Q-tip to get rid of eye make up, which needs to be dipped into eye make up remover or for the budget conscious, baby oil or coconut oil. You just need to spend your money on the right products. Make up lasts depending on its use so even if you don't use it regularly, discard all make up products after 2 years. Expired products can cause skin problems. Phew, long and detailed post, wasn't it??I thought I was going to leave the writing for the other blog. :(
