It is a shame that most Indian celebrities do not usually experiment or leave a unique stamp of style. From the recent breed, Sonam Kapoor has been leading the brigade and luckily educating everyone in the process of fashion and style. But otherwise everyone keep having more misses than hits. I am going to do some posts about celebrities who can hopefully use some help (not that they read this blog but hey, can't blame me for trying).
Kangna Ranaut. When she starred in Gangster, that girl brought something fresh and raw to the screen. And those curls! Now, she's succumbed to the straight hair, shiny lips and thin body syndrome of Bollywood. We continue to stamp out any individuality and display a parade of Botoxed beauties. Kangna has this great Bohemian vibe around her, and if she brings those curls back at least off screen then she can retain an earthy, hippie style something on the lines of Nicole Richie and Alexa Chung. Kangna looks more at home in flowy dresses than short tight numbers and her height is perfect for her to discard heels and settle for comfortable flats and brogues.
The red flowy maxi from Winter Kate is perfect for Kangna's tall and lean frame. Clean, fresh makeup and her natural curls will just make the look easy and natural.
For a day out, these jacket is perfect yet interesting. Kangna should have an unpredictable but yet not too-in-your-face style. Pair the jackets with jeans, leggings or shorts and brogues, and you're good to go. And Kangna, for heaven's sake, lose the damn pout.
Why do celebrities always resort to short, tight dresses for events? Why is there a serious lack of imagination while styling for off screen events? Kangna needs to take a leaf out of Alexa Chung's book and resort to simple yet effective dressing. Its a shame that celebrities believe you have to bling things up for an event. No one believes in the power of right cuts and colors and simple accessories. Alexa Chung is a fashion and style icon because she can look at home in something from a flea market or Chanel. Yes, sometimes she looks homeless but let's give her a rest. Everyone has their bad days.
I like this look for an event or party. Nothing too fussy and the right amount of dressing up. Kangna, do not underestimate the power of ballerina flats. They can dress anything up.
